Components of a Good Product Launch Marketing Plan

If you are going to launch your new product you will need to depend on a well thought out product launch marketing plan. There are several pieces in your plan that will be important in the development of a successful plan. The most important component in the marketing plan answers the question “What are you going to sell?” You will need to answer this before you start since this question will be the driving force behind all of your other marketing decisions.

Secondly you should determine who your prospects are. Who do you believe will want to buy your product and whom do you believe will likely respond to your marketing? These people make up your prospective client base.

Once you have decided “what” and “whom” you will need to decide what your marketing message will be. What do you want to convey to your prospective customer base about your product. Will you draw attention to its new features? Or is your product new to the market? Make sure that your message is clear and well thought out.

Establish a standard for measuring any change in sales or growth. What do your current sales look like? How are you currently selling your products? If you don’t know how sales are now you will not have a proper understanding of how effective your marketing is as you move along.

Set goals concerning your business’ growth. These goals will encourage you to plan for growth and will stimulate the process. This is the real reason for your marketing plan to begin with, to move your business from where it is now to where you would like for it to be.

How are you reaching your goals? How do you sell your products to your customers? What type of advertising do you think will have the most impact? By now in the plan you should have a strong understanding of your customers, your products, your message, and your goals so that this last part is a second nature.

Now that you know how to build a plan there is nothing standing in your way. Start implementing this new marketing plan and you will see your business grow right in front of you. Don’t be afraid to work hard at it, that’s the only way you will truly ever see any reward.

Typical Areas of Web Development

Internet marketing plays a big role in online businesses. In relation to that, it is believed that successful internet marketing is backed up by great web development strategies. Yes, if you are planning to have or you already have an online business then you would want to utilize internet marketing as one of your tools and know more about web development to fully attain success.

Web development can be split into many areas and a typical and basic web development hierarchy might consist of Ajax, Flash, JavaScript, Microsoft Silverlight, and, HTML and CSS3.

The first area to discuss is the Ajax. It is used to create an interactive web application which is a group of interrelated web development techniques used on the client-side. It can retrieve data from the server asynchronously in the background without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page. The techniques of this type have led to an increase in interactive or dynamic interfaces on web pages. Using the XMLHttpRequest object, data is usually retrieved. The use of XML is not actually required, nor do the requests need to be asynchronous despite the name.

Ajax is a group of technologies like DHTML and LAMP. A combination of HTML and CSS to mark up and style information is used by Ajax. With the use of the JavaScript, DOM is accessed to dynamically display the information presented. It also allowed the user to interact with the information. A method for exchanging data asynchronously between browser and server to avoid full page reloads is provided by the JavaScript and the XMLHttpRequest.

Flash Adobe Flash Player adds animation, video, and interactivity to Web pages. Advertisements and games are presented by the use of Flash. It has been positioned as a tool for Rich Internet Applications or RIAs. To provide animation of text, drawings, and still images, Flash manipulates vector and raster graphics. The Flash supports bidirectional streaming of audio and video, and it can capture user input via mouse, keyboard, microphone, and camera. An Object-oriented language called ActionScript is contained in Flash.

JavaScript is formerly called ECMAScript and it is a ubiquitous client side platform for creating and delivering rich Web applications that can also run across a wide variety of devices. It is typically used to enable programmatic access to computational objects within a host environment. The JavaScript is primarily used in the form of client-side JavaScript, implemented as part of a web browser in order to provide enhanced user interfaces and dynamic websites. It is significant in its use in applications outside web pages.

Microsoft Silverlight integrates multimedia, graphics animation and interactivity into a single runtime environment. The later versions brought additional interactivity features and support for CLI languages and development tools. The features are also similar to the Adobe Flash. Multiple web browsers used on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating system are compatible with Microsoft Silverlight. It provides a retained mode graphics system similar to Windows Presentation Foundation.

HTML5 and CSS3 are the latest proposed standard combined with the latest proposed standard for CSS natively supports much of the client functionality provided by other frameworks such as Flash and Silverlight.

Marketing Slogans Are For Lovers

The development and use of a great Marketing slogan is a long lost art. And a key to effectively building your brand equity. Yet, I see so many weak slogans these days that seeing or hearing a really great one has a way of reminding you of the astonishing power of a simple idea, well articulated.

One of the things I remember most about driving to and from the Darden School at UVA back in the early 80′s is, strangely enough, the state’s marketing slogan: “Virginia is for lovers.” Growing up in east Tennessee, I would frequently see cars buzzing up and down I-40 and I-81 with the provocative slogan emblazoned on their back bumpers. I’m sure you too have seen or heard the line, and no doubt, have never forgotten it.

Created 40 years ago this year, it’s a great example of a marketing slogan that really works. Strangely enough, “Virginia is for Lovers” wasn’t the original slogan–the more clunky (and much less powerful) “Virginia is for history lovers” gradually evolved into the final line. Driven primarily by bumper sticker advertising–who can forget the white font and red heart–it embodies several things that are common to all great slogans.

First, it has a clear target–lovers. What a truly original way of personalizing a state for everyone. Whoever wrote the line was a genius, because the line isn’t primarily about the place, it’s about who we want to be. It’s aspirational. Who isn’t, or doesn’t want to be, a “lover?” This marketing slogan speaks to everyone.

Second, there’s a clear benefit: If Virginia is for lovers, it’s for people who are, or want to be, in love. Who wouldn’t want this ? And importantly, anyone who has spent time in the state knows that Virginia does, in fact, have a dreamy feel to the place. So, it’s entirely plausible: Virginia really is for lovers.

Third, the slogan is provocative. New Jersey is the “Garden State.” Ohio is “So much to discover.” A state for lovers is in a category and space all its own. It has stopping power. It makes you stop and think.

Lastly, it’s memorable. How many of us, if asked, wouldn’t know the state’s marketing slogan ? Try this test at home: “_______ is for lovers.” Amazingly, most of the “marketing” that I recall for Virginia is from automobile bumper stickers. Who needs new media when you have a great idea ?

There’s something else that’s important here–durability and longevity. Most states have multiple slogans that change over time. Virginia has had only one. I have to give a lot of credit to Virginia for sticking with it. Marketers spend every waking minute thinking about their brand, their value proposition, and how it’s being articulated and communicated in their marketing plans. They swim in their own marketing ideas and often forget that their brand is nothing more than a millisecond of thought in the mind of the average consumer. And thus, they tend to tire of a good idea way before consumers do.

So the folks in Virginia should be applauded. They have a great marketing slogan that communicates their state benefit in a compelling, provocative and memorable way. And they haven’t walked away from it. But don’t just take my word for it. In the year the slogan was introduced, Virginia travelers spent only $800 million vs. $14+ billion in 2004.

Why can’t all Marketers be as inventive, disciplined and impactful ? Great marketing slogans are for lovers.
